snowday :::
By warriorgrrl | April 6, 2008
On Thursday I was marvelling at the warm weather to someone at work. Their first reaction was not to say “Yes, how nice, let’s enjoy it” but, in typical British fashion, to point out that “Well, it’s nice today but it’s going to snow at the weekend”. Not being someone who watches TV weather reports I didn’t know whether they were being mindblowingly pessimistic or if the weatherpeoples’ guesswork was going to be accurate for once (I have a bit of a beef with weatherpeople…we can discuss that another time).
Today London woke up under a thick crust of soft whiteness and I took my new pooch for his first ever walk:

Almost as though it could sense the glass-half-empty Britons tutting and warning each other “It won’t last, you know”, the snow didn’t stick around for long. My local park looked like this at 11am:

and this at 3.30:

The trees are dripping and the snowmen are dying but hurrah for the snow - it was fun while it lasted.

Now I know WHY it snowed… Benji’s first walkies! Man, that is a blessed dog already. Except maybe now he expects brilliant stuff to fall from the sky every time he goes outside.
