For those of you who might have heard ‘Automatic’, the electro track I wrote with Michael Gray that got released earlier in the year, I wanted to do an update on the Laura Kidd side of my music.
‘Automatic’ is still getting radio play and is going down well in Europe, apparently - hi Europe / bonjour / hola / ciao / guten tag. It also appears on Ministry of Sound - The Annual 2008 (Australian Edition) amongst various other compilations, and I’m honoured to be two tracks away from the awesome Luciana / Super Mal song ‘Bigger Than Big’ on CD1. Yes, I’d love to come and sing it for you in person, I could do with some sunshine… The Koolwah track, ‘Fashion’, is also getting played all over the place, though as with ‘Automatic’ the labels don’t tell me anything so I have to rely on the odd Google search to see where it is and what it’s doing!
I’ve been working on a couple of things recently in a similar vein that I’m rather pleased with. Despite my stinking cold I spent yesterday holed up in the studio with the marvellous Hal Ritson of The Young Punx working on some vocals to submit for a potential single. I had a wicked time working with Hal and absolutely love our song, so fingers crossed ours gets picked! It’s definitely the happiest, most partylike song I’ve ever had a hand in so I really hope people get to hear it. Also, last week I had a really fun recording session working with Dan and Dan of Danism/Liquid People who are brilliant guys. Our track isn’t a traditional party song lyrically and I haven’t heard the mix yet but I’m excited about that one too. It’s good to be ending the year with a bang!
As for She Makes War songs, I’m heading off to the countryside on Friday armed with a laptop, keyboard and guitar and have plans to get some new material up on the net by the end of January. You have been warned…
