"The scalpel like precision with which a song like ‘Scared To Capsize’ exposes the mutual accommodations and complicity of a dried out, withered bond, feeding on the fear of being alone, somehow does more honour to human life than it would if it copped out into an uplifting chorus of contrived optimism...

Very few people write dark songs of broken love with anything like this maturity, perceptiveness and depth, and still convey a sense of vulnerable youthfulness and optimism."

You need She Makes War in your life - Joe at Free Hug

"I'm sad to say that I was late in my discovery of the musically astounding Laura Kidd - I in fact discovered her from something that was retweeted (thank you Twitter) - but as sad as I am that I have been missing out, I'm more than pleased to have found her.

It's difficult to liken [Disarm] to anything I've heard before. It appears she's carving herself a niche in the music industry with her beautifully crafted songs, defiant of genres."

"Disarm" Album Review - Martyn at About 3AM

"She Makes War perfectly weave pop sensibility with angst ridden lyrics and muddy distorted guitar riffs. With their subject matter, dark guitar lines and dirty rhythm sections, tracks such as ‘A-Hole’, ‘I Am’ and ‘Let This Be’ will all appeal to Hole / Auf Der Maur fans.

Other tracks such as ‘Scared to Capsize’ and ‘Slow Puncture’ show Laura Kidd’s mellow side and show off her vocals talents. With ‘Slow Puncture’ I was brought back to Sheryl Crows second album. Imagery of late summer afternoons accompanied with dirty guitar chords set the album apart from other UK acts at the moment.

She Makes War have managed to craft a principally American Alt Rock album with UK appeal. ‘NIMN’ and ‘Chicken’ both have hints of Garbage, Republica and UNKLE. Providing the perfect balance between grunge and pop, that gives the whole album a refreshing sound for the UK scene."

"Good turn out at Rancho Relaxo in Toronto. Even though She Makes War is steeped in a raw guitar-driven sound, the music still comes off as being melodic and celebratory. Beautiful vocals, noisy atmospherics that gives stunning snapshots of both riot grrrl and 90's alt-rock, suggesting that the old continues to become the new again."
